Webb28 okt. 2024 · The ThreadPool class extends the Pool class. The Pool class provides a pool of worker processes for process-based concurrency. Although the ThreadPool class is in the multiprocessing module it offers thread-based concurrency. Recall that a thread is a thread of execution. WebbA thread pool is comprised of a task queue and a set of long-running worker threads that runs taks from the task queue submited by the client code. Thread pools can also be used for parallel computing. Servers such as Nginx, the NodeJS (JavaScript runtime) and Boost.Asio library use thread pools alongside non blocking IO for achieving scalability.

Webb12 aug. 2024 · A shared_ptr<> is a mechanism to ensure that multiple object owners ensure an object is destructed, not a mechanism to ensure multiple threads can access an object correctly. You still need a separate synchronization mechanism to use it safely in multiple threads (like std::mutex ).
