Dwarf fortress can't remove stairs
WebNov 11, 2014 · Either you dug only down stairs, using the j command in the designations menu or you accidentally removed the up portion of the stairs using the z command in said menu. In order to dig up/down stairs you should use the i command in said menu (you may still want down stairs at the top floor and up stairs at the bottom). WebIf it are down stairs carved out using designate (This is your problem) You need to channel out the stairs. Beware that if the tile above has a up/down stairs your dwarf might fall 2 Z-levels and break his leg, or neck. Try to get the mining dwarf to the current floor first, mind you need a pickaxe for channeling.

WebMar 18, 2024 · You can have your dwarves work this pump manually or you can hook it up to power if you already have power. This should clear out a moderate amount of water pretty quickly. If you're feeling really intrepid, you can dig around and just breach the bottom of your flooded area, allowing the water to go somewhere you don't care about. WebJul 29, 2010 · The dwarf that does the job should be OK, as the water isn't too deep and it will get shallower as it spreads into the hall; he should make it out the far entrance. Then set a dwarf to repeat-pull the lever controlling the floodgate (s) in the hall, and it will destroy water every time they cycle.

If they're constructed stairs, designate them for remove construction-ing.
